United Nations Day 2026 | Celebrating International Volunteer Year and UNA-Westchester’s Partners

UNA-Westchester Celebrates United Nations Day 2026

UNA-Westchester invites the community to join us on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the White Plains Public Library for our annual United Nations Day celebration, this year highlighting International Volunteer Year and UNA-Westchester’s Partners.

The program will feature a keynote address by Vincent Valdmanis, Senior Director of Peace and Security Policy at the United Nations Foundation. Vincent began his UN career as a United Nations Volunteer in South Sudan, bringing firsthand experience of the impact of volunteerism and international service.

The event will also include a panel discussion moderated by Katie Pfeifer, Senior Director of Programs at Volunteer New York!, featuring representatives from several of UNA-Westchester’s volunteer partner organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, Mercy University Model UN Team, Rotary Club of New Rochelle, and the League of Women Voters.

A special Call for Action will invite representatives and attendees to consider what each of us can do to support our communities and advance the values of the United Nations.

The celebration will also feature a performance by Albanian Dance Grupi Rozafati NY, supervised by Angjelina Nika, followed by a networking reception with refreshments and an opportunity to visit the tables of our co-sponsors and partner organizations.

The program is co-hosted by the White Plains Youth Bureau and supported by a broad group of community partners and co-sponsors, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Nu Omega Chapter; League of Women Voters, Westchester County; The Links, Incorporated, Westchester County Chapter; Manhattanville University Mary T.
